Pyur presents Lucid Anarchy (Live)

How do an inner and outer world relate to each other, when personal turmoil interacts with the chaos of the universe? PYUR performs her latest Subtext release Lucid Anarchy. A pulsing, ethereal soundscape composed of nine prismatic, emotionally raw electronic pieces. Recorded against a fragmented backdrop split between Berlin, a tiny fishing village in Bretagne, the Jura mountains, and a Tyrolean alpine village, the album oscillates between the alienation of human-built environments, and the rawness and vividness of nature. Sonically sparse, yet rich in texture, Lucid Anarchy evokes the bittersweetness of self-discovery against the perpetual entropy of the universe; finding meaning in the uncertain. The result is a pulsating electronic release that is reduced in form, and expansive in emotional colour.

About the artist

PYUR is the burgeoning solo endeavour of Berlin-based composer and electronic artist Sophie Schnell. With a foundation rooted in classical composition and vocal artistry, her works are born from the fusion of her synesthetic experiences and her upbringing within a lineage of shamans, resulting in her unique and boundary-defying sound. PYUR first appeared in 2016 with the full-length audiovisual album Epoch Sinus on Scuba's Hotflush Recordings. Followed by the acclaimed 2019 album Oratorio for the Underworld at Subtext Recordings. PYUR has performed on Stockhausen’s Oktophonie for Berlin Atonal and opened for Autechre at MacQuarie Wharf in Tasmania during the Dark Mofo Festival.
