Maria Komarova present Krɑjïnɑ XV (Performance)

Sun June 2 | de Brakke Grond

As part of our sound art programme Neighbouring Frequenties at de Brakke Grond, Maria Komarova will present her latest performance Krɑjïnɑ.  “Krɑjïnɑ is an alluvial gathering of bark, cork, rubber, wires, roots, plastic, electret capsules, motors, batteries, stones, speakers and integrated circuits. A place where things become forces, and sounds become tales. Where artifacts dance with landforms and offer hints without posing riddles. Being joint along the seams of our categories, they resonate, shake, feedback and tremble, altering the polarity of assigned meanings.”

About the artist

Maria Komarova is an interdisciplinary artist based between Prague and Brussels. Working with sound as a performative medium, she develops DIY electro-acoustic objects and lets them inhabit the sites of performances and installations. By staging and repurposing mundane objects, her works emphasise the sonic and visual potential of the non-human world. Maria is currently researching the materiality of sound with a specific focus given to aesthetic and policy of technology. Her work has been presented internationally at festivals and venues such as STUK, Oscillation, Archipel, Rewire, Reveil, Sonic Acts, among others.

This artist is part of the sound art programme Neighbouring Frequenties in collaboration with STUK and de Brakke Grond. Special thanks to Kunstenpunt and DutchCulture for their support.
