Opening Concert with Maria W Horn, Mats Erlandsson and Casimir Geelhoed

Wed. 29 May | With premieres of Maria W Horn, Mats Erlandsson and Casimir Geelhoed. Light scenography by Zalán Szakács

How can the body of an organ be manipulated and experienced in new ways? The opening concert of FIBER Festival 2024, invites you to drift into spectral, multilayered soundscapes.

With more than 9 organs, the Orgelpark is a unique space where organ music blends with electronic sound and an immersive lighting design.

We proudly present two premieres – in which multiple organs are played – made especially for, and partly within, the beautifully restored church.

Casimir Geelhoed presents the premiere of “Deviations”, a performance commissioned by FIBER and the Orgelpark especially made for the hyperorgan, using software, live processing and spatial sound. Geelhoed’s intricate sonic landscapes will gradually unravel, drifting, disintegrating, and diverging from their original sources.

Swedish composers Maria W. Horn and Mats Erlandsson will present special readapted versions of their piece ‘The Spectral Organ’, to be played on various organs and the hyperorgan of the Orgelpark. The artists will call on us to reflect on the “traces” or “ghosts” that remain in a space and are available to us, if we are willing to listen.

Media and light artist Zalan Szakacs will tie everything together with a light scenography made with the use of custom-built kinetic light instruments, reflecting and morphing the spatial characteristic of the Orgelpark. Commissioned by FIBER, this work is a continuation of his ongoing Lichtspiel project (2022-present).
