ABOUT US

FIBER is a brand new audiovisual festival in Amsterdam, where electronic music, audiovisual art, interaction and technology join forces to create a cohesive audiovisual experience. Where other audiovisual festivals offer a wide range of already established audiovisual artists, FIBER focuses on a new generation of artists and musicians, each with their own refreshing vision on audiovisual art and experience. We offer talented students and starting artists a space to grow in their artistic vision.

Collaboration between all disciplines is vital. Working together in the months preceding the festival enables artists coming from various disciplines to explore new ways of cohesion between sound and image and each other’s work, resulting in a full audiovisual experience.

VISION

Audiovisual artists and musicians of a new generation have been experimenting outside the boundaries of their own disciplines. More than individual work, they see their work as a part of a bigger network of art, media and technology. They use multiple tools and media in order to create new and refreshing audiovisual experiences. Often, these works go beyond the traditional boundaries of for example DJ  and VJ work. These artists share knowledge, combine different media and search for new ways to let them interact.

Nightlife in The Netherlands doesn’t offer a lot of platforms for this type of development where audiovisual art meets nightlife in one cohesive experience. Many clubs and festivals still work with a dogmatic structure which makes it often impossible for young musicians, audiovisual artists and interaction artists to collaborate for the sake of building a stronger connection between sound, space and image. This is why we started FIBER. FIBER is a new festival for young talent to experiment and play together in front of an audience. Next to this event, our goal is to create a knowledge platform for upcoming artists and students and to unite them in a network of different creative disciplines.

FIBER offers a stage for young artists and dj’s (students and starters). Please apply for the first selection.

Perform
Are you a electronic musician or dj who’s open to new experiences and collaborations? FIBER offers you a performance at the stage. We are looking for electronic live-acts and dj’s that fit daytime or nighttime.

Exhibit
Looking for a place to show your video-art, exhibit an interactive installation or try out a new technique? We call all young av- and interaction artists to participate in two festival elements: - exhibit your installation / interactive - show your video-art, motion graphics and animations in the festival gallery.

BECOME A PARTNER

We think it’s important to work with partners. We learn from the knowledge and networks of others. And share ours in return - an important value within FIBER. While knowledge is commonly treated as an object, we think it’s more appropriate to treat it as a flow which is generated between various individuals or initiatives.

We are looking for partners who are interested in sharing their network or would like to participate within FIBER. We want to offer upcoming talent a stage. FIBER is a group of young creative people (dj’s, vj’s, audiovisual artists, designers). Each member of FIBER has a strong affiliation within the field of audiovisual art and music. Whether they work or study in the world of art, we all work together to create a fantastic audiovisual experience.
